Has your car engine started giving you problems? Are you considering buying either a used car engine or a remanufactured one? Since the engine is one of the most important (and expensive) parts of your vehicle, car and truck owners often face a dilemma when deciding whether to buy a remanufactured engine or save money by opting for a used one.
There is a number of factors that can influence the choice of used engine or
remanufactured engine, such as cost, reliability, warranties and purpose of usage. The remanufactured engines are more expensive than used ones, however they offer a warranty and are as good as new, as they are reconditioned into original specifications by the manufacturers. On the other hand,
used engines are cheaper, but you never know how much was the engine used or in which conditions it did work. Used engine has also a limited warranty or even no warranty at all.
Unlike a remanufactured engine where the process is very detailed: it is completely stripped down, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled with new or refurbished parts with the process maintained to meet or exceed OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards. This normally means replacing worn parts, machining parts to restore their function, and testing the engine to insure reliability.
